We are thrilled to have been awarded £200 from the Bridgwater Lions towards the cost of our emotional support service.
The service was started just over a year ago and has helped over 20 people across Somerset with 1-2-1 sessions and telephone support. Graham Glover, the charity’s specially trained emotional support worker, is sight impaired himself so is able to use his own experiences to support people.
Becky Fry our Development Officer said ‘discovering you are losing your sight, or sudden loss of sight, can be a devastating blow. Many people do not know where to turn. The emotional impact can be profound. We recently helped a gentleman who was close to being suicidal following sudden loss of vision. The support he received from Graham was instrumental to his recovery.
We are so grateful to the Bridgwater Lions for supporting this project. Many of our services are funded via donations from groups and individuals.'
If you are sight impaired, or care for someone who is, and would like some support from this service then please contact Heidi Linegar on 01823 366141 to book your session.
