Somerset Sight recently teamed up with Exmoor National Park’s 'Moor to Enjoy' Project to provide an outing for visually impaired people at Wimbleball Lake. Those feeling adventurous tried kayaking while more sedate members enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the lake. The day also included a picnic lunch and a visit to The Duck’s Café for a hot drink.
Graham Glover from Taunton came along to try out kayaking “we had an excellent time, it was a great experience, we thought we’d paddled into the middle of the lake at one point but it turned out we had actually just gone in a big circle. We all had a laugh about it though.”
Becky Fry, Development Officer for Somerset Sight said “We believe that everyone regardless of their sight condition should be able to enjoy activities that interest them. Somerset Sight has a social and activity program for sight impaired people of every age. If you would like to get involved please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
We are on the lookout for volunteers to help support all their activities and services. To find out more about these opportunities please call the team on 01823 333818 or email us here.
